New Thai Restaurant in Silver Lake Offers 12 Unique Pad Thai Variations
BOBO Thai has opened in Silver Lake, becoming the first restaurant in Los Angeles dedicated entirely to Pad Thai. The restaurant features twelve distinct variations of the iconic dish, including traditional and innovative options. Founded by TTFB Group, BOBO Thai aims to celebrate the diversity of Pad Thai, offering a menu that includes street-style rice bowls and shareable appetizers. A new culinary destination has emerged in Silver Lake with the opening of BOBO Thai, the first restaurant in Los Angeles dedicated exclusively to Pad Thai. Officially launched on August 2, 2024, by TTFB Group, BOBO Thai aims to showcase the rich diversity of Thailand’s national dish through twelve unique interpretations. Among the offerings is "The 1938," a pork belly classic that pays homage to the year Pad Thai was declared Thailand’s national dish, as well as innovative creations like "Two Kings," which incorporates the bold flavors of Tom Yum into the noodle dish. The restaurant also features a rotating "Monthly Wok" for seasonal specials, late-night wok-fired drunken noodles, and a variety of plant-based options, including the tamarind-rich "Garden Party."
Founder Charles Hsu emphasizes the importance of diversity in Pad Thai, noting that every neighborhood in Thailand has its own take on the dish. BOBO Thai aims to introduce Los Angeles diners to the depth and creativity behind a dish they may think they already know. The menu extends beyond noodles, offering street-style rice bowls, customizable toppings such as soft-shell crab, and a selection of "Fun Bites" designed for sharing, including Green Curry Eggplant Fries, shrimp toast, and night-market-style charred corn.
Complementing the food is a bar menu featuring playful, flavor-forward cocktails. Signature drinks include the BOBO Thai Spritz, made with lychee, raspberry, rose water, and sparkling rosé, and the Tom Kha Booze, a gin cocktail inspired by coconut soup, infused with lemongrass, ginger, and yuzu. The beverage list also includes thoughtful mocktails, natural wines, and local beers.
The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere is reflected in its decor, featuring hot pink, electric blue, and sunshine yellow hues. Custom artwork and bright uniforms contribute to a lively mood, while a lush backyard patio, anchored by a blooming cherry tree, provides an inviting space for late-night dining.
