Move Forward MP Apologizes After Restaurant Altercation
A Move Forward Party MP, Chorayuth Chaturapornprasit, has apologized following a physical altercation at a Bangkok restaurant, claiming he was defending a woman from harassment. The incident, captured on video, shows him intervening as a man allegedly invaded the woman's personal space. Both parties have agreed not to pursue further action, and the MP expressed regret over the violence while emphasizing his protective intentions.
Chorayuth "Tonkla" Chaturapornprasit, a representative from the Move Forward Party (MFP), has publicly accepted responsibility for a physical altercation that occurred at a Bangkok restaurant on Friday night. The incident, which gained significant attention on social media, involved Chorayuth intervening to protect a woman who was reportedly being harassed by another man. Video footage shows the MP stepping in as the man invaded the woman's personal space and placed his hand around her neck.
According to Move Forward spokesman Karoonpon Tieansuwan, the altercation escalated after the man had previously harassed Chorayuth's friends and had even slapped another individual before turning his attention to the MP. During the confrontation, the man slipped and fell, which Karoonpon stated was a result of his own actions rather than any aggression from Chorayuth's side. Restaurant staff and bodyguards intervened to separate the two parties.
Both Chorayuth and the other man involved have agreed not to pursue any further action following the incident. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Chorayuth expressed his regret over the violence and accepted blame for the situation. He emphasized that his actions were motivated by a desire to protect the woman and clarified that he did not initiate the fight. The 33-year-old MP described the incident as an important life lesson and criticized some media outlets for their coverage, which he felt misrepresented the events. He urged those outlets to reach out for clarification on the matter.
