Ugly Baby Thai Restaurant to Reopen in Williamsburg This Winter

Ugly Baby, the renowned Thai restaurant celebrated for its spicy cuisine, is making a comeback this winter in Williamsburg. The team has secured a lease for the former Emmy Squared location at 364 Grand Street, as confirmed by Som Kharazmi, a business partner of chef Sirichai Sreparplarn. While an official opening date has yet to be announced, Kharazmi indicated that February seems likely for the reopening.

The original Ugly Baby, located in Carroll Gardens, closed its doors in late 2024 after a successful seven-year run, during which it earned a spot at the top of Time Out's Best Restaurants in NYC list. At the time of its closure, one of the owners explained that chef Sirichai needed a long break, which would also allow him to focus on a long-desired cookbook project. The restaurant was known for drawing long lines and a devoted customer base, all eager to experience its intense flavors.

After the Carroll Gardens location closed, the staff transitioned to a new venture, launching Hungry Thirsty, another Thai restaurant on Smith Street. As Ugly Baby prepares to reopen, fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to enjoy its signature dishes once again. If everything goes according to plan, diners will have a reason to brave the winter chill and ride the subway for a taste of the beloved restaurant's offerings this February.
