Spiritland Expands to Barbican with European-Japanese Cuisine and Unique Soundsystem
Spiritland, a pioneer in the listening bar trend, is expanding its presence in London with a new location at the Barbican Centre, set to open on October 20. The original Spiritland opened in King's Cross over a decade ago and has since become a staple for those seeking a unique blend of music and dining. The Barbican venue will feature a menu that combines European and Japanese influences, crafted by executive chef Matt Cranston, who previously helmed the kitchen at Lardo in Hackney.
The launch menu includes intriguing dishes such as Spanish nachos topped with olives, guindilla chillies, manchego, and piquillo peppers, alongside oyster mushroom fritti and meatballs with smoked mozzarella. Guests can also enjoy potato salad garnished with shredded nori, reflecting the venue's culinary fusion. Spiritland at Barbican will accommodate up to 100 guests and will host regular supper clubs, enhancing the dining experience with a vibrant atmosphere.

In addition to its food offerings, Spiritland is committed to providing an exceptional auditory experience. Each day, the venue will feature a curated music program, culminating in a full album playback at 5 PM, showcasing a diverse range of artists from Bach to Beck. The soundsystem, custom-built by Living Voice, promises to deliver high-fidelity audio, ensuring that every note is heard as intended.
Sophie Uddin, co-founder of Spiritland, expressed her excitement about the new location, stating, "Bringing Spiritland to the Barbican Centre is a dream. Their unique mix of adventurous programming across all art forms, the audience, and the building itself are all unbeatable." With its combination of innovative cuisine and a rich musical experience, Spiritland at the Barbican aims to become a new cultural hotspot in London.
